Crankshaft miced at .03 and was polished, NOT ground. This means two to three more overhauls are possible. AD 505 complied with. Cam shaft was good and reconditioned. One new Bendix mag and one overhauled by Continental were installed with new gears and spacers. New harness installed. Form 8130 for the mags and the harness.
NEW: oil pump body assembly with new gears and shaft, Oil quick drain [not installed for customer preference], main bearings, rod bearings, intake and exhaust valves, tach drive, idler gear shafts, spark plugs, shroud seal retainer, rod bushings, valve keys, push rods, generator belt, gaskets. New inter-cylinder baffling installed. All exhaust installation gear is installed and ready for exhaust, Champion oil filter with large threads. The generator installed works but is considered a core, I will provide an alternator core if desired. The starter is used but works great. There is no carburetor installed. Spark plugs are tight but wires were left loose for engine installation.
The steel cylinders were inspected, reworked and Nitraded. Pistons were found to be good, were reworked with new rings and hardware. The flywheel and ring gear are in very good condition, only one tooth on ring gear has minor wear, it was inspected, cleaned, painted and installed.
Sawtooth Engines has a 60 plus year reputation and does great work with attention to detail. Yellow tags and tons of paperwork but no logbooks prior to the overhaul. Engine came from a long time friend who removed it from a 172N he was going to rebuild.
